Introducing Langdale Chase: Your Perfect Pet-Friendly Retreat

With thirteen valleys to explore and countless places to visit from attractions to pubs, the Lake District is one of the most dog friendly destinations to discover in the UK. Remember you can bring your four legged friend when visiting us at Langdale Chase.

At Langdale Chase, we know that your dog is more than just a pet, to some they are our favourite child and to others they are the ones that always greet us with a smile. That’s why we know you can’t leave them behind, especially when visiting the Lake District. To make everyone feel welcome we have a number of dog friendly bedrooms with easy access to our gardens and the lake shore. Some have balconies and others have terraces for sitting out on in the sunshine. By the back door near to your room you’ll also see a doggy bath for cleaning your pup up on those muddy Lakeland days.

We want to make your dog feel comfortable, that’s why they will be welcomed with a waggy tail letter, telling you everything you need to know for your stay. Along with a comfy dog bed, a towel in case they fancy a swim, dog bowls and some home made treats. Who doesn’t love home made treats! We also have a dog menu so they really feel like they are on holiday.

Dog-Friendly Activities in the Lake District

It’s no secret that the Lake District is the perfect destination for dogs and dog lovers alike, most pubs, cafes and shops welcome dogs in and the landscape is a paradise for our four legged friends.

For those with smaller legs, or perhaps your companion is winding down a little bit now, Tarn Hows is a great dog friendly walk where you can experience the drama and beauty of the Lakes as you wander around the easier footpath. For the more adventurous canine, or one that needs wearing out before dinner, there are plenty of longer walks within a short drive. Ask a member of our team for their top tips. They’ll probably tell you all about their dog’s favourite walk.

Another fun thing to do with your dog is to get out on the water. Whilst paddle boarding might be a bit risky, there are plenty of places where you can hire motor boats to explore the lakes of Windermere and Coniston. Or for a gentler time cruise along the lakes aboard one of the passenger ferries that all allow dogs.

Practical Tips for Traveling with Your Dog

Now that you’re booked in let’s talk about what you’ll need to have a relaxing dog friendly break at Langdale Chase.

Firstly, although we provide comfy beds and a towel for drying those muddy paws, its always good to bring a blanket or towel from home. This helps your dog to feel more comfortable at night snuggling up in your room. Whilst you can order from our dog menu, you’re welcome to bring your own dog food to keep everyone happy.

When you’re around the hotel or in the gardens please keep your dog on a lead so they don’t disturb other hotel guests. Dogs are welcome in our lounge areas and bar, and of course our gardens. Waste bins are dotted around the gardens for you to use. We’ve also got a dog wash by the back door. There’s nothing worse than a muddy dog in your bedroom right?

When out and about in the Lakes you’ll really feel how dog friendly this beautiful place is, plenty of people often stop to say hello and your dog will meet lots of friends. Please be mindful of livestock however, the Lake District National Park kindly ask that dog owners keep their dogs on leads in farm land so not to scare livestock, this is particularly important during lambing season around spring time.
