Swallows & Amazons Afternoon Tea
Lake District Afternoon Tea
Indulge in the Timeless Tradition of Afternoon Tea at Langdale Chase
In the peaceful splendour of the Dining Room, this most celebrated of British traditions is a highlight of any visit. Just like Edna Howarth, the chatelaine of Langdale Chase in the 1890’s, this is a daily ritual – traditional savouries, scones and delicious fancies are freshly made by our pastry chefs every morning. The finest Cumbrian clotted cream and Scottish strawberry jams provide the ultimate treat, particularly when a glass of champagne is on hand too!
We invite you to enjoy a journey of adventure through the tale of Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons. Believed to be a frequent visitor to Langdale Chase, one can picture him scribbling notes down as he watched others play on the lake. A fitting moment to capture in an afternoon tea.
Our afternoon tea is inspired by the beautiful landscape that surrounds us. An inspiration for writers, poets and artists, which to this day inspires local crafts people. When setting out to create our fabulous afternoon tea, we wanted to showcase how the landscape continues to inspire. From local hand thrown potters to woodwork craftsmen, there’s more to our afternoon tea than you realise…
